Best Green Management Practices in the Auto Repair Industry Project – Pollution Prevention Resource Center NW
Once again I’m working with PPRC The Pollution Prevention Resource Center NW on a new project. We’re focussing on building multimedia training materials that highlight sustainable BMP Best Management Practices across the auto repair industry. The focus is largely on the disposal of chemicals but other general building maintenance and work materials curriculum as well. The multimedia training materials will be free online.
We kicked off the filming with an earth day shoot at Swedish Motors in West Seattle. On tour with us were representatives of various utilities responsible for large vehicle fleets. The shop heated it’s floors and facilities with an oil burning furnace onsite, solar power on the roofs and surprisingly in a large auto repair business only one trash can, with 6-8 recycling bins. A very impressive operation. They’ve even got landscaping around their parking lot that’s certified bird habitat. We’re due to shoot again in the facility where the Seattle Police Departments vehicle fleet is maintained.
- Very cool for an auto repair shop to intentionally be creating wildlife habitat
